Start at the parking lot by the ski-lift and follow “Savalen rundt” road for about 3 km before you take the road to “Mogardsdalen” and follow this for about 700 meters. You cross a wooden bridge by “Mogardsbekken” and follow the path for about 900 meters until you arrive at the road to “Husumvangen”. Walk for about 50 meters on this road and by the gate into “Husumvangen” take the path to the right beside the fence. From here it is 1.9 km to the top. After about 100 meters you are at 815 m.a.s.l and you’ll start the steeper part of the trip towards the top. After about 150 meters going up you reach the treeline in about 850 m.a.s.l and you will start to see some of the landscape around you. Follow this path for 200 meters and you will arrive at a cairn. From the cairn there is no solid path, but if you hold left you will find a path which leads up to the top. You will see the top point on the way. The view at “Bangardsvola” is open in all directions. The Savalen lake you will see good. To the south you see the 1827-meter-high, pyramid-formed big “Sølnkletten” (Alvdalssøln) and to the right for this you can see the north-east tops in Rondane; “Høgronden”, “Midtronden” and “Digerronden”. To the east you see “Trondfjell” with its 1666 meters and in west you see “Fjellenghøa”, “Håmmårhøa” and “Rødalshøa”.
You can follow the same road back or you can go west towards “Fjellengbekken” where you in the last part of the trip will arrive at a waterfall. Down by the edge of “Mogardsdalen” you get to a path which leads to “Mogardstjønna” on your left, but you can follow this path to the right back to the parking lot by “Savalen rundt” road. This trip is about 700 meters longer and is a bit more demanding.
